Frequently Asked Questions
- What should I bring to the enrollment fair and/or appointment with my case
worker?
- To help expedite your Medicare enrollment, please bring:
- A list of drugs you take. Be sure to include the strength and the number
of times you take each drug each day or per week, such as "Lipitor 20 mg,
once a day". (Some pharmacies will print out a list for you).
- Your Medicare
card. If you don't have the actual card, apply at the local Social Security
office or call them at 1-800-772-1213 to get a new Medicare card.
- What if I am already enrolled but don't yet have a drug plan membership card?
- If you enrolled late in the month and you need to fill a prescription before
you receive your drug plan membership card, you should let your pharmacist
know the name of the Medicare drug plan you joined and they may be able to
substitute other information for the card. Be aware that your pharmacists
will have to research and confirm your membership information, so it may
take just a bit longer than normal to fill the prescription.
Here's what can be used as a temporary substitute for the drug plan membership card:
- An acknowledgment
letter from your drug plan, or
- A confirmation letter, or
- An enrollment confirmation number received from
the plan (if you completed online enrollment, the number appears on your
confirmation of enrollment statement).
- What if I am enrolled but can’t pay my premiums or co-pays?
- If you have limited/ low income and meet the income guidelines, special assistance
to help pay monthly premiums and/or co-pays is available. Catholic Charities
can assist you apply for assistance.
- What are the important dates I should know about?
- Nov. 15- Dec. 31, 2006 is the next opportunity to enroll
