Emergency Services
Emergency services are offered as a solution to a temporary crisis brought on by life’s unexpected obstacles. Families and individuals are eligible to receive one-time financial assistance within a 12 month period, to be applied towards basic needs.
Assistance
- Rent/ Mortgage Assistance
- Utility Assistance (electricity, gas, water)
Limitations
- Assistance must not exceed $200 per household.
- No assistance with reconnection fees
- No assistance for partial payments if it will not alleviate the situation
Eligibility
- Must reside within the 25 county area of the Diocese of Austin.
- Must have a verifiable financial crisis within the last 30 days.
- Must not have received emergency assistance from Catholic Charities within a 12 month period
- Must have a plan in place to meet next month’s expenses
- Vendor must accept payment
- Payment must allow client to remain in residence and/ or continue utility use
- If client is a resident of Travis County, client must access services from Travis County Health and Human Services and Veteran Services first before seeking assistance from Catholic Charities.
- If services are denied by Travis County Health and Human Services and Veteran Services, client must show verification of denied assistance.
Documentation Required
- Photo ID or Social Security Card
- Current utility bill or past due rent/ mortgage bill from landlord or copy of lease stating rent due and amount
- Proof of household income for all household members
- Proof of government benefits (TANF, SSI, SSDI, Food Stamps, etc…), unemployment benefits, child support, etc…
